If you’ve been keeping up with the AI text-to-image space, you’re probably aware of how Stable Diffusion swept the internet in the past few weeks.
In less than 10 seconds, Stable Diffusion, a latent text-to-image diffusion model, can produce a picture from a brief descriptive text prompt.
It’s a completely free and faster competitor that functions practically identically to OpenAI’s Dall-E2 but without as many filters — Yes, it can generate portraits of celebrities and politicians.
However, Stable Diffusion shut down its free Discord image-generating bot on August 20, 2022, and released the DreamStudio web app.
What is DreamStudio?
DreamStudio is a new suite of generative media tools engineered to grant everyone the power of limitless imagination and the effortless ease of visual expression through a combination of natural language processing and revolutionary input controls for accelerated creativity.

DreamStudio is a front-end API to use the recently released stable diffusion image generation model.
It understands the relationships between words to create high-quality images in seconds of anything you can imagine. Just type in a word prompt and hit “Dream”.
The model is best at one or two concepts as the first of its kind, particularly artistic or product photos, but feel free to experiment with your complimentary credits. These correlate to compute directly and more may be purchased. You will be able to use the API features to drive your own applications in due course.
Adjusting the number of steps or resolutions will use significantly more computing, so we recommend this only for experts.
The safety filter is activated by default as this model is still very raw and broadly trained. This may result in some outputs being blurred, please adjust the seed or rerun the prompt to receive normal output. This will be adjusted as we get more data. Please use this in an ethical, moral, and legal manner. Make your mothers proud.

From the first look, I like how clean and intuitive the user interface is. Although there are terminologies like “Seed”, “CFG”, “Steps”, etc that are quite confusing for beginners.
You can also increase the number of images that you want to generate with a single prompt.

The web app also comes with a handy history page, but it does not store the images on the server. You can only see a little preview and the generation parameters like the prompt, dimensions, seed, and cfg scale.
You have to “Redream” to retrieve the high-resolution image.
DreamStudio Pricing Model
The price is £1 ($1.18) for every 100 generation credits.
The settings chosen will determine how generating credits are used. The higher the steps and resolution, the higher the cost.

Can You Sell The Images?
Yes, you can copy, modify, and distribute, even for commercial purposes.
Few things I can think of where you can sell the images.
Additionally, you may change or overpaint the images in your own artistic style before posting them to your social network accounts.
Final Thoughts
Personally, I was shocked and felt a bit sad when Stable Diffusion shut down the free discord bot. Although it was anticipated, I did not anticipate it to happen so quickly.
On the plus side, moving ahead, the new DreamStudio app will provide additional functionality, stability, and a more seamless user experience.
It now competes directly with Dall-E2 in the market. The created results are equally nice, plus it’s a less expensive choice.
The commercial space of text-to-image tools is starting to heat up, I’m excited to see what’s going to happen in the next months!
